Fabric Scraps and Fun

I enjoy browsing the net, as you may have figured out by now...  anything to do with quilts, obviously, but also crafts.  I like making crafty items…  especially when I am required to figure out how to make it!  So many ideas to be found online, so little time….

Fabric coiled bowls (supposed to look like sunflowers) using several fat quarters and uncovered cording:

Bowls are used to hold sunglasses, keys, ID badge lanyard

Crocheted kitty, pattern found online, using cotton yarn and leftover yarn for scarf:

Flannel kitty, using fabric remnants from jammies and crib sheets:

Fabric kitty, using a fat quarter and a remnant of white fabric:

Fabric owl, using two fat quarters and felt:

Baby owls (felt and embroidery) in nest (fabric coiled bowl using fabric remnants):

Monster t-shirt, using a new t-shirt and an old knit shirt of mine for the letter:

Neck warmer, using Lion-brand “Suede” yarn:

Rocket ship, pattern found online (remnants of this fabric were used on the H-block quilt):

Curly scarf using leftover-from-other-projects yarn, pattern courtesy of Mirj:
Scarves were donated to two of my schools to be used in
PBIS (positive behavioral intervention & support) stores

Yes, indeed...  I can get into mischief anytime and anywhere!

  1. I thought those curly scarves looked familiar! I'm so glad I found your blog, now I just have to get over the jealousy, I wish I could sew as well as you do (or just sew at all)!

  2. Thank you, Mirj! Your scarves have been very popular with the female students at my schools... I smile to myself when I see a cute little girl with one around her neck. The scarves were great fun to make and helped use up a lot of leftover yarn.

  3. Oh your stuff is adorable! Thanks so much for stopping in over at my blog. The postage stamp quilt has been fun to make. I've used all scraps. 1 1/2" strips. If you want a great tutorial on it...head over to Handmade by Heidi!
    Have a wonderful day!

  4. Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your sweet comment. The postage stamp quilt has been a lot of fun to make. If you want a great tutorial go to Handmade by Heidi.

  5. You found a lot of great projects. The cats made me laugh!! :-) I really like the bowls. That looks like it could be a really fun project!

  6. Thanks for the kind words, ladies!

Linda - The cats were gifts for my granddaughter Emma who loves cats of any kinds.
