Strawberries!

Strawberries are in season and I made a run to my local farm and picked up these beauties...

No posts lately because it wasn't the pollen that got me but some crud going thru the schools....  I was in bed for a week literally.   So much for Spring Break.   Thanks to some modern meds, I am better and was able to work this past week... tho I've been tired after I get home.

Hope to get back to quilting the monster quilt this weekend...

Pollen Season

I'm allergic to pine pollen....

...not much quilting is going on but I should have bought stock in Kleenex.

I started allergy shots last summer and am not sure if they are helping or not.   However, I can say that the shots are NOT helping with the pine pollen....

I'm staying inside as much as possible...   rain is forecast for this afternoon.   *fingers crossed*

Quilting The Monster

It's Spring Break and procrastination is no longer an option for the monster quilt.  The quilting has begun.....

I

I'll be stitchin' in the ditch for the center part of this quilt but have a couple of ideas for the borders.

(Pumpkin Orange) Zipper Bag

I found a FQ that goes perfectly with the pumpkin orange zipper although there isn't actually any orange in it.

I tried several zippers with this fabric but the yellow/gold or "hot" colors suited the orange zipper perfectly, imho!

Another zipper put to use!

Questions... I get questions...

...and I like questions, especially when those questions make me think!   Ms Janet O. asked me how many zippers I had left yesterday.  (In order to make a couple-three zipper bags, I had ordered a rainbow variety of 10" zippers from kandcsupplies (link) on Etsy a couple of years ago.)  And so... here are the zippers I have left...

I would like to get them sewn into zipper bags and was wondering what in the world I would find for that pumpkin orange zipper when a light bulb went off in my head.   Guess what I found in my FQ stash?

I'm going to work towards using all these zippers eventually although my next challenge will be the Christmas green one on the right!

Zipper Pouch / Bag, v. 9

Still procrastinating with the D9P quilting but I did make another zipper bag!

Practice does improve the end result and it is much easier and quicker to make one now.

My favorite part is selecting fabrics...

Zipper Pouch / Bag, v.8

Oh yes, I am a great procrastinator.   After pin-basting the quilt Saturday afternoon, I dilly-dallied about starting to quilt on Sunday and decided to make another zipper bag!

This lovely hydrangea fabric was given to me by a friend who reads my blog but never comments.   (Hi, Deborah!  *waving*)

Okay, Deborah comments about my blog posts in person...  just not online...

Even after making another zipper bag, I still didn't want to start quilting the monster quilt currently residing on the dining room table.

....and I really did get it all pinned!

Sandwiching

With the goal of turning finished quilt tops (aka UFOs) into quilts this year, I've sandwiched a 90"x90" quilt-to-be and will start pin basting here in a minute.  Gotta have a break after ironing and tussling with all that fabric...

With the weather turning warmer, I'd like to get this quilted before it becomes too hot to have it laying all over me as I wrestle it through the machine.

This is a disappearing 9-patch made with charm squares and some yardage.  The top was finished last year... so it's about time it turned into a quilt, don't you think?
