Second Round of Auditions

I had a nice time playing with and looking at the first set of fabrics being auditioned for the sashings and borders but....  one needs to audition more than just one, yes?

Moda Bella Solid "Paper Bag"

...with cream inner border and outer border.

Moda Bella Solid "American (or Air Force) Blue"

...with cream inner border and outer border.

Moda Bella Solid "Sage"

...with cream inner border and outer border.

It's that time, don't forget to sign up!   And if you can't join in this week, remember there are TWO FNSIs this month!   We all got a lot of sewing to do before Santa Clause arrives, yes?

  1. Are you taking votes cause I am itching to put in my two cents worth!?! : ) You do what you want, of course, but if it was my quilt I have no doubts. When I saw the Air Force blue as sashing I stopped. (Maybe try light cornerstones--possibly square-within-a-square with the on-point center square in cream and the outer corners in the Air Force blue, so only the on point square really shows up. Would you like any more complicated suggestions? : ) ) That was it for me--and I do love the cream inner border!

  2. My favorite is your first version (Paper Bag. If you tried red cornerstones? For me American Blue is to dark and Sage is to light. Looking forward to your decision:):):)

  3. All these options Freda !
I now like the blue sashing.
I'm glad it is your decision because I really liked yesterday's too.

  4. Hmm, I like the blue sashings too, and the first one. This is not an easy choise and I wish you all the luck with it...;o)

  5. I can't decide, except I do like the cornerstones and the inner border, and I still like the striped sashing from yesterday.

  6. A bit behind on my blog reading - of paper bag (what a cool name) and the first one, I like the first one a bit better - seems more true to the rest of the quilt. I like the cornerstones. You said you were certain of the blue - what other choices are you thinking of?

  7. Gosh. I'd have to say that I still like the very first combo--the tan shirting and blue cornerstones. I'm thinking that your first instinct was the best one.... This is the reason there's so much fabric in my stash.... trying to pick the exact right thing is sooooo hard!

  8. Oh....I like the dark sashing! Very nice!

  9. Surprised myself and like the sage with cornerstones better than the blue sashing! But the blue still works and would be my #2 choice.

  10. Love the blue sashing! Of the lighter sashings, I like the shirting best because I think the pattern adds visual interest. But the blue - my oh my, does that sing.

  11. The blue made me stop and go WOW... but it is the blocks that are GORGEOUS!!!

  12. I thought I liked the blue sashing best when I saw it, but I think the blocks are highlighted better with the sage sashing. Beautiful blocks!

  13. I can't believe it, but I like the Air Force blue best. I thought the beige would be best but when you see it and the AF blue makes the blocks come alive. Could it be that my hubby retired from the AF?

  14. It's really hard to choose, but I like the first one, Paper Bag, best.

  15. I'm in the camp with the first one...but at the end of the day you have to choose!

  16. I'm a little late to the party! I was SURE I was going to write that I like the paper bag fabric the best but I kept going back and forth between that one and Air Force and I think Air Force wins. It really does make the blocks glow. Bonus is that I don't even think you need cornerstones. But, perhaps audition some red cornerstones...you know, just to add complication to your life!!
