Mid-holiday Update

It's a quiet, rainy day and I have a cuppa coffee....  the quiet won't last long because folks will start showing up in a bit.

Sewing machine update:  It's working now but not well... gears have been ordered to replace those that I have worn out over 18 years of sewing on the machine.  I'll have to take it back in and leave it while it's being repaired.... so, no sewing will happening until the new gears are installed.   Not sure how long I'll be out of commission as far as sewing/quilting goes... but it will be at least a couple of weeks.

I've wondered what it would be like to not have a working sewing machine... and I'm finding out.  I'm doing a lot more reading and housework...   *lol*    ...so I suppose I'll survive.

I would like to wish you all a very happy New Year with many good things for you and yours in 2012!

  1. Maybe you can get a loaner while your machine is in the shop! But if not, nows your time for planning lots of quilts for 2012 and/or fabric shopping!

  2. I agree. Fabric shopping is a good idea. Seems like there are some very good year end sales going on most everywhere :D

  3. Yeah...definitely cut back on the housework, increase your reading of quilt design books, and visit as many quilt shops as you can manage. After all, an empress has to do what an empress has to do!

  4. I know the feeling when your sewing machine goes in the shop, is like not your baby around. Time to do lots of planning for new quilts and cutting fabric or maybe you just need to rest. Happy New Year.

  5. Two days and no machine and I begin to go into withdrawal. Forget the housework, I would be cutting up the stash for future projects. But enjoy yourself until the machine is functioning.

  6. Ugh, that's tough! I doubt I could trade sewing for housework, but at least you'll have something to show for the loss of use ~ a sparkling house! Happy New Year!

  9. Maybe I would have been better off with a broken sewing machine through the holidays--I wouldn't have been distracted from what I should have been doing and I wouldn't have stayed up so late sewing.
Hope you are up and running again soon.

  11. Double drat! So sorry you are going to be without your sewing machine. Hopefully, it will be as good as new soon. The reading sounds good not so sure about the cleaning. :)

  16. I hope you are enjoying your rest time. I have gone without my main machine a few times this year but I have a "few" machines as back-ups. I don't know if I could be without a sewing machine for long. I would definitely have withdrawals. Happy New Year!
