What's Wrong with This Picture?

I've read on several blogs to use your camera to look at a block after it's completed to make sure it's done correctly.  The CW blocks are my first attempt at fancy piecing and I found out that the camera trick works.  Let me show you...

I promise this block looked just FINE to me before I took the photo!

I either need my eyes or my head examined...

I spent a little quality time with...

...and ended up with this...

Looks a little better, wouldn't you say?

Congratulations to Miki Willa of Miki's Fabric Creations for winning the give away for the Civil War Block: #24: Ladies Aid Album!

Miki requested the block "as is" and it will be winging it's way to her in today's mail.

  1. At least you caught it before it was sewn into a quilt top!

  2. You saw it right in time, I saw it once I was quilting and that is much to late;o)

  3. I have to admit, I had to reduce my page to 50% so I could get both blocks on the same page to compare them and see what you changed, LOL.
I found a block I messed up AFTER the entire thing had been quilted!! I decided it couldn't possibly be that important if I hadn't noticed it before that!

  4. I hate when that happens! But..much better to catch it now and not when the whole quilt is put together!

  5. How funny! I guess a lot of us have done that. What's sad is when it makes it all the way into the middle of a quilt before we notice that "one of these things is not like the other"....

  7. It happens. Funny how you can't see things like that until you look at a photo! :-)

  8. That reminds me of the countless times
I've sewn a simple pair of pants not realizing the two back pieces were sewn together making for one pair of very uncomfortable pants. Glad you find that mistake before you pieced the entire quilt together. I have used that picture taking trick, too and it is highly effective!
