I've been blogging for almost six months and have virtually met a lot of creative, talented, friendly folk... but I never realized there were angels in Blog-land.
As you know, I'm working on Barbara Brackman's Civil War Block of the Week. I decided to join in this year-long project in June and caught up with the blocks I was behind in two weeks. I also decided that I would only use stash... mostly fabrics leftover from making the tumbler quilt.
Because the tumbler quilt is for my nephew, I didn't have a lot of shirtings because I wanted to have mostly the medium and darker colors. So... my choice of light fabrics is limited and was growing slimmer with each new Civil War block.
One of my new blog friends emailed and offered me some shirtings from her stash, promising that she had plenty and would love to share. She assured me that this was a gift and could not be considered me going out and buying fabric.
Angel KD's package arrived today... and I should say the box arrived today! It was like Christmas here around noon... my angel didn't send me a few shirtings... she sent me a ton of shirtings all tied up in a pretty bow.
I now have lots and lots of beautiful light fabrics to choose among...
...and look at this fabric! It looks like antique cross-stitch!
My angel even sent a few reds "for spice"...
The fabrics are much lovelier than my very meager photography skills show and I'm eagerly awaiting this coming Saturday's Civil War block posting so I can use these gorgeous fabrics!
I never knew there were angels in Blog-land...
... I do now!
An angel indeed! Isn't amazing to know there really are such thoughtful people still in the world! What a wonderful story.
ReplyDeleteAnd then they are saying that the world is bad.....but there are still angels among us.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your fabrics, this is gonna be a very special quilt.

You have some lovely light fabrics in there, you will have a lot more options now when making your blocks, your angel is very generous indeed.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun package to open! You definitely have an angel - love all of the fabrics!
ReplyDeleteSuch a generous gift from your angel. I believe angels are all around us, and some of them make their presence known. Think of the beautiful thoughts you will have when using these lovely fabrics. Your CW will always have a very special meaning.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful angel friend!!! Those fabrics look like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteYou never know who is reading your blog and how they will react to what you write. It is wonderful to have friends to share with. Now your quilt will always bring you happy feelings when you look at it.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely fabric, and a lovely person {cyber-angel} that shared with you! I also especially like the "antique cross-stitch" material. I know this package was a thrill to open!
ReplyDeleteHow kind is that? The fabrics are an absolutely beautiful collection! You'll put them to good use, I know. I've met the nicest people here, she is definitely an angel friend!

The fabrics were lovely. I agree. She is an angel :)
ReplyDeleteQuilters are the most generous people (angels) around. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI can personally attest to "angels in Blog-land". An anonymous angel sent me a set of pink miniature bottle-brush Christmas trees back in December!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! It's so sweet when others think of us. Those shirtings are great too. I really need to focus on building my stash of those. I just can't help going for those novelty prints :)
ReplyDeleteHow sweet your angel is! Good stuff that you can use to finish your quilt!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely gift! Angels sure are in all shapes and sizes and they have a habit of coming along just as they're needed. I'm enjoying seeing your Civil War project progress.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, and thanks for the nod to Mickey!
ReplyDeleteYUP! Bloggers and quilters are the best and quilting bloggers are the best of the best!
