Raw Edge Machine Appliqué

Now that I have TWO of the Bible BOM, the pressure is on to get these blocks done before #3 arrives at the end of March.

Last night, while doing an online search for tutorials to help this new appliqué-er with her first project, I came across Alex Anderson on Simply Quilts....

...who discussed machine appliqué with Sue Nickels who demonstrated her technique for raw-edge machine appliqué….

…and the second video showing how Ms Nickels chooses thread and how to use a buttonhole stitch to sew the fused appliqué onto the block.

 Now...

In other news:  Pleasant Home is giving away an AccuQuilt GO! Baby.   Don't bother signing up because I am sure to win...   *lol*

Uh oh...

...wasn't it just last week that I got Block #1 of the Bible BOM in the mail?   The same one that's sitting on the bedside table where I was studying all the instructions?

Well, Block #2 and the sashing arrived in yesterday's mail...

Is someone trying to tell me something?  Does this mean that the third block will arrive in a week or two?  At least, it's less than three weeks to spring break... might have a chance to catch up then...

In the meantime, Happy March, everyone!

My First BOM

Yup, I went and did it… signed up for a 12-month BOM.  Yup, I am a crazy woman… just shoot me now!

Seriously, my SIL will be heading off to minister school at Duke University this coming school year and I felt “called” to make Jan Patek’s Bible quilt for him.... even though he may be through with minister school by the time I finish this...

Let me just say that I’ve never met a pattern that I didn’t want to change in some way… and I will be changing this one as well.   Nothing that serious but I’m NOT doing needle-turn appliqué!  Not that I can’t, it’s just that 1) I’m a little ADHD,  and 2) I’m not willing to spend that amount of time with something that will give rise to latent perfectionism, semi-tamed after many, many years’ effort.

I foresee a lot of fun with fusible stuff and underlining… wish me luck!

Yes, yes, I know I didn't post a mug rug yesterday when you all are waiting with baited-breath for me to do so...  *lol*

Here's your mug rug fix for the day...
