I'll be leaving shortly to drive to Chesapeake VA where the annual extended family New Year's get-together will be head this year. Lots of family, lots of fun, lots of food awaits!
I would like to wish everyone the best of all good things in the coming year!
Should auld acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot and days of auld lang syne!
For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne.
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet for auld lang syne.
"Auld Lang Syne" is an extremely old Scottish song that was first written down in the 1700s. Robert Burns is the person whose transcription got the most attention, so the song is associated with him.
A good translation of the words "auld lang syne" is "times gone by."
So when we sing this
song, we are saying, "We'll drink a cup of kindness yet for times gone by."
Happy New Year! I've enjoyed sharing out quilting adventures this past year and look forward to more of the same in 2012!
