Happy New Year!

I'll be leaving shortly to drive to Chesapeake VA where the annual extended family New Year's get-together will be head this year.  Lots of family, lots of fun, lots of food awaits!

Of course, most of us will be asleep when the New Year actually arrives but that's okay....  none of us are as young as we used to be!

I would like to wish everyone the best of all good things in the coming year!

Should auld acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot and days of auld lang syne!

For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne.
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet for auld lang syne.

"Auld Lang Syne" is an extremely old Scottish song that was first written down in the 1700s.  Robert Burns is the person whose transcription got the most attention, so the song is associated with him.

A good translation of the words "auld lang syne" is "times gone by." So when we sing this song, we are saying, "We'll drink a cup of kindness yet for times gone by."

  8. Happy new year! Finding your blog was one of the best things that happened in 2011. I raise my cup to you, my friend. As Gonzo said, "There's not a word yet, for old friends you just met." Peace and blessings in the coming years.
