Jacob's Ladder Block #7

There are four mini prints that came with these floral FQs and I liked how the first turned out.... so I decided to make another mini floral for block #7.

This print is a dark blue-green flower and makes me think of moss peeking up thru a flagstone path.

A Milestone...

...and a give away!

Sometime during Saturday night and Sunday morning, the blog went over 30K views... pretty amazing to me.  So, I thought we'd have a little celebration give-away!

I found a tutorial for a "Simple Sewing Companion" and thought this might make a cute give-away!

This is the prototype but I can see making several more for gifts...

The sewing companion comes with a couple of things...  a needle case and a pair of sewing scissors!

There is room for a tiny pencil, a measuring tape, and thread as well.  A nice little case to carry your sewing supplies with you.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Give-away rules:

1)  Enter by posting a comment letting me know you'd give this little sewing companion a good home!
2)  If you are a "no-reply" blogger, please give me a way to contact you.  If there is no way to contact you, I will draw another number.
3)  Entries will be taken from the time this posts until I get home from work on Monday evening, at which time I'll draw a number, using Ms Random Number Generator.
4)  The winner will be notified by email Monday night and posted on this blog on Tuesday morning.

Simple enough, yes?    Good luck to all!

Chain-pieced Out

Chain piecing has its own kind of zone... once you're there, you can sew forever it appears.

I don't think there will be any sewing done today... I need a break.

I may play with the completed squares on the design wall however...

A Give-away!

Julie of Me and My Stitches is giving away one of her gorgeous pieces of quilt block jewelry.  The drawing is Monday morning, July 25th.

You get to pick out the piece of jewelry you'd like from her shop... a very hard decision!  So many great choices!

Jelly Roll 1600 Update

Yesterday was a lazy day....  I deserved it!

I decided to leave the trout pond intact as a "design element"...  *lol*   ...and added the first border.

My apologies for the fuzzy photo... but you can get the general idea, I think.

This coming Friday, June 17th is the monthly Friday Night Sew In with Bobby and Heidi.   I've signed up and plan to work on hand sewing down some quilt binding.  That way I can camp out on the sofa and watch movies while I sew...

Currently, there are 60 folks signed up and I hope you'll join us!

Sometime over the weekend, this blog went over 10K views and I decided it was time for a little give away.

I have quite a few 1800s repro fabrics left from the tumbler quilt and I thought I would start making Barbara Brackman's Civil War Reunion blocks.

I started with #24: Ladies Aid Album...  I made one and boy, do I need practice!  So, I made a second block and it was a bit better.

I decided to give away the second (better) block to celebrate over 10K views and I will leave it up those interested in signing up whether they would like the block "as is"... or would you like me to make the block into a mug rug.

To enter, simply post a comment telling me whether you'd like the block or a mug rug.

If you are a no-reply blogger, please leave an email address as a way to contact you if you win.   If I am unable to contact the winner, I'll draw another name.

A winner will be chosen on Wednesday, June 15th when I get home from work.

Good luck!

Squishie Therapy

After a long, hot, exhausting day yesterday, I had a nice little surprise in my mail box when I got home!

Marj of Eclectic Quilter had a give away to celebrate 100 followers and I won one of her Knick-knack Bags!  Woo hoo!  I had forgotten that Marj blogged that the bags were FILLED!  Double woo hoo!!!

The Knick-knack Bag is beautiful and I love it... the blue fabric on the front is actually two pockets!  What a cool little sewing bag to carry with me when I travel.

In the bag were lots of goodies such as a Purple Thang, a pattern for a quilt block, a gorgeous yellow and orange print FQ, a bright pink gel pen that has an eraser(!), a spool of silk finish cotton thread in a lovely soft gray.... and a little red square thing in a little ziploc bag.

Hmmm...  I wonder what that is for...

I was able to make out the word "Clover" on one side and did a little online search.... it's a THREADER / CUTTER thingie!   I've never even seen one!  Now, I don't have to put scissors in my travel sewing bag!

You can tell I need one of these because clearly my eyesight has gotten so bad that I couldn't see the threader wire on one point.

Well, I was so excited with all the wonderful goodies... maybe I wasn't paying close attention.

Thanks, Marj!  I love all my goodies... you are so generous and brightened my day tremendously!!!

Light Green Block

Thanks to the onset of pollen season, I was visited by the Sinus Headache demon yesterday so I only managed to finish one Bottled Rainbows block.  I can't remember the exact name of the Kona solid color but it's photogenic properties are similar to those of the daffodil yellow fabric.  The light green is very pretty but it's hard to tell...

I did not have a plethora of scraps in this color (I lean toward the brighter shades) but managed to squeak by.  I now have ten of the 16 blocks finished so the end is in sight!

Cool giveawayQuilter in the Gap is giving away 19" of HSTs in a rainbow of colors!  Be sure to check it out and sign up!

She also has a fun survey to take too!

Update on the Double 4-Patch

One thing about having a blog and telling folks what you plan to accomplish over the weekend certainly helps keep me honest!  It’s chilly here and I was soooo tempted to pop in a movie and curl up on the sofa with a cup of hot tea.  But no!   I said I was going to finish the center of the quilt top...

You all would be very proud… I got all the blocks sewn together into rows and all the rows sewn together!  Yea!

Sewing blocks together is not one of my favorite quilting tasks so I figuratively dangled a carrot on a stick in front of me…. after I finished sewing the blocks into rows, I would allow myself to make a mug rug!  *grin*   And after all the rows were sewn together, I could make another mug rug!  As you can see, it worked!

Here are the mug rugs I made today…

And because it’s almost Valentine’s Day...

.....and  because I can…  I’m doing my very first give-away!  If you are willing to give the Heart and Flowers mug rug a good home, just post a comment that you’re willing to do so and I’ll draw names tonight.

Can’t beat the odds here…  you will NOT be completing against hundreds of folks because not all that many folks read my blog.   *lol*
