Pinwheel Block #1

I finished up the first pinwheel block, fussy cutting the large pinwheel "blades"... which proved to be a bit of a challenge since I didn't have a lot of the fabric to play with.  Had to piece one of the "blades"... but I don't think it's too obvious.

Block is 12" finished.

And yes, that is a US Coast Guard emblem on the fabric!  Didn't I do a wonderful job fussy cutting those?   *grin*

(If either of my sisters read this blog post, don't say anything to your DHs (both retired Coasties).... one of them may be receiving this quilt.)

  1. Excellent fussy cutting, Freda! I can't tell where you pieced to make a blade. : )

  2. Love the fussy cutting, and the light background fabric is the same as I used on Dulcinea, only mine was light blue! I really love this block. I wish I could find the Army version of that Coast Guard fabric.

  3. Oh, after a closer look, I see that the flag fabric has all branches on it. You must have gone through a lot of fabric to cut those!

  4. Great job on the block but how do you decide which DH will get the quilt. Sounds like a family feud in the making.;-}
