Thoughts on a Sunday Evening

When I was a girl, I used to think that when I got this old...  all I would do would be sit in a rocking chair on the front porch and wait for the grandchildren to visit or the neighbors to drop by...

My social life would consist of visiting over the back fence...

...and other such "excitement."

So, what did I do today?

... and tomorrow, I'll be...

I think I had it wrong all those years ago....

  3. Funny---------somehow I don't think we would be too happy sitting on the porch in our rocking chairs. Maybe for an hour or so but then we would both be off doing something a lot more exciting. Old age might not be for sissies------but I sure would like to look like that in a bathing suit!

  5. I would go crazy when I have to sit on the porch every day, doing nothing.
Just as you I have to sandpaper furniture and paint some walls, our Eldests bedroom gets a make over but not today. Today I´ll do some homework and this afternoon I´m off to a bee. What can life be wonderfull.

  6. Crumbs, I don't look anything like that "old girl" in the last photo. Does that mean I will look like her when I get to her age ... or is it already too late? :oD

  7. Its so wonderful to have so many things to do and enjoy! I think when I retire I'll stay really busy, but I know people who don't want to retire because they don't know what they'll do. Not me! I'll be ready to retire when the time comes.

    You are a busy lady!

  8. How perspective changes the reality of our lives....and we thought otherwise. No rocking chair and I bet you wouldn't have it any other way.

  11. I don't know what I expected when I got to be this age. My one grandmother who lived this long played bridge, puttered in her garden, and did some sewing, when she wasn't gadding about with her retirement home buddies. My dad still ran his company. Mom didn't make it this long. I look around at my friends, and we seem to be doing varied and wonderful new things all the time. The most interesting thing to me is that I didn't know I would enjoy it this much!

  13. Hey busy lady! I'm sure glad you're off your rocker, LOL!~ The caption on the last photo was my mama's favorite saying during her final years; thanks, that made me smile. And btw, your WWF board is different than mine, for one thing our score shows up top. Have a marvelous Monday!

  14. I say keeping busy is what helps keep us young. We do a lot of things, but those Grammas of old also did cooking from scratch, dishes by hand and sewing was a necessity oftentimes. I'm glad to be here and now, aren't you?

  15. What a reality check it has been to get where we thought the 'easy days' would be. Keeping busy keeps us young.
