A Paper Piecing Tutorial to Share
I've never done any paper-piecing but was intrigued by this tutorial: Paper Piecing Art: Beginner and Beyond (link) by Jennifer Ofenstein. It's almost 40 minutes long but it moves quickly... and can be paused because it's broken into five lessons.
You know something? I think I can do this! Now, I just need to find a paper piecing pattern to try....

Wow! She demonstrated and explained that so well I think I can paper piece now. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteCrumbs, Freda. I've no sooner got the disappearing pinwheel block done and you're showing me more stuff I want to try! Stop it! :oD
ReplyDeleteNo, seriously. I've wanted to try paper piecing for a while but it always looks too fiddly for me. This just might be my time to try it! Thanks for sharing the video. :o)
I have done a lot of paper piecing over the past couple of years, and I still learned some good things here.
ReplyDeleteThere are lots of free paper piecing patterns on the web, Freda. Good for practicing. I would recommend printing your pattern on newsprint, if possible--so much easier to remove. Trust me on that. It is available for under $4 on Amazon in a 500 sheet pack. Much better price than the $10 for 100 sheet packs that are marketed for paper piecing in quilt shops. I can send you a few sheets if you want to try it first.
Tons of paper piecing patterns on Craftsy for free or reasonably priced Freda. Have a beautiful day!
ReplyDeleteFree patterns at Sewhooked.com and Fandom In Stitches.com.

You can do it! Looking forward to what you try out.
ReplyDeleteShe is a natural teacher, it was all so clear! Hope you have fun ~

I've done a lot of paper piecing, but I'm going to check out this tutorial. I use cheap (the cheaper - the better - thinner paper) ruled filler paper. Easy to remove.
