Okay... .neither of the individuals in the photo are real "kids" anymore...
My grandson George is sitting in the helicopter that my niece Jenny flew from her Coast Guard station at Elizabeth City NC to Oak Island, NC (near Wilmington) for the USCG's 7th annual Expo and Safety Day, highlighting partnerships with local emergency responders.
Jenny flies helicopters for the "take sick passengers off cruise ships" type missions, among other search and rescue missions.
Both Jenny and George have quilts made by yours truly!
My Zachary would love to be sitting where George is!!
ReplyDeleteHe want's so much to be a pilot.
George looks like he might like follow Jenny's career choice. It sounds very exciting.

That is a neat picture! Rescuing sick ones from a cruise ship sounds so scarey. (especially for the sick person!) I bet George loved being in the helicopter.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome girl, a real rescue hero. Hugs
ReplyDeleteWow...she is a real hero in our book. Tough job for a strong woman. What a wonderful thing to share with son. I caught the small print---should have made it larger---they deserve quilts, yes!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing woman! And look at all those controls to know about! Her family must be so proud...she has such a huge responsibility. I have a special appreciation for her job, as my son was medivaced by heli off a ski slope many years ago (a tree got in his way). Btw, in the photo I think she favors you.
ReplyDeleteWow! Takes my breath away just thinking about her line of work!! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteCOOL KIDS!
ReplyDeleteIt does sound like an exciting job! Have we seen the quilts you made the kids?
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting job! I love flying! I flew a twin seater Cessna once but I let the real pilot put it on the ground!
