I decided to finish up the second batch of star blocks for John'aLee of The Scrappy Appleyard for this month's FNSI project.
In addition to the weekly Civil War blocks, I will be quilting and binding quilts for the remainder of this year.
I'm not much at straightening up until I finish a project so.... if I finished the stars, then I could put away those fabric scraps and make my cutting table a bit less cluttered.
I'm still intrigued about how different a block can look just by changing the colors and values around...
...so much so, that I see a star quilt happening next year.
In the meantime, these four star blocks, along with the previously blogged about star...
...will be sent out to John'aLee in Monday's mail.
Thanks, Bobbi and Heidi for hosting another successful Friday Night Sew In!
*LOL* I had much the same feelings. Last night I was making my "weekly" block for John'aLee and after cutting and sewing one I thought I should just cut them all so I could put all of the fabrics away. I haven't sewn them all yet, but I know I won't be waiting to do one a week now that they are all cut and on laid out on design boards.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks look good--nice variety.
We all think alike!!! I couldn't sleep this morning, so I thought I'd cut another block for John'aLee and cut three!! Love your star blocks - it is fun to do different fabrics and see the different effects! I love star blocks. Blessings
ReplyDeleteThese all came out so nice. You are on quite the roll!
ReplyDeleteLovely blocks! I know what you mean about tidying up. I've always thought it very telling that in Sears the sewing machines and the vacuums are sold side by side...
ReplyDeleteGlad you had FNSI fun as well!
These are great stars!
ReplyDeleteIt is always fun to see how a simple block can be changed by putting different colors/prints in non-traditional places.
ReplyDeleteGreat job!!
Your star blocks are gorgeous! Looks like you had a very productive night!
ReplyDeleteGreat star blocks.
ReplyDeleteIt is neat how different fabrics change the look of a block.
I so know what your mean about needing to clean up the cutting table...I'm going to make a few more stars tomorrow then pack up the cutting board for a few weeks and work on quilting a few!
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are lovely, Your Royal Empressness !
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of star blocks. Love your stars! I'm a new follower from FNSI. :o) Nice to meet you.

ReplyDeleteLove the stars!! Terrific!!
ReplyDeleteYour stars look awesome! I really love the U.S. Army one! Thanks for sharing! I'm your newest follower! Have a great weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are beautiful! I love the patriotic theme.
ReplyDeleteVery nice star blocks, Lady...I know John'aLee will be so grateful. The four-patches in #1 and #4 make me think of buildings.
