Thanksgiving Eve

I found out yesterday that I have five fractured ribs....   good news in that the information helps me cope with the pain....   "It's supposed to hurt... you have fractured ribs, dummy!"

On the other hand, it means I can expect three more weeks to recover and heal.....  otherwise known as:  getting nothing done....  and even reading gets old after a while...

I did a bit too much yesterday so today's planned cooking will have to wait til tomorrow...

This year, I have a greatly reduced Thanksgiving menu....  which doesn't matter too much (except to me) because the kids and their families are having their turkey dinner elsewhere... and coming in afterwards.   So I'm preparing soups and other easy-to-make items.

Banana Pudding

There will be other stuff but this is what I'll be fixing tomorrow.  Pumpkin Bread is also on the idea board... but we'll have to see how much energy I have.

To all my American blogging buddies...

...and to all my online friends, thank YOU for your care and concern!   It helps get me through these trying days...

  3. So glad to know there is a reason for what you have been going thru....but aren't you just furious at what WC put you through! OK, I just had to vent, so let's focus on easing your pain and healing. Praying now for that. And actually your menu sounds good to me...I love corn chowder. But my bird is oven ready and the pie is being prepped. So sending healing wishes to you.

  4. Soup is good food - don't overdo - your family wants you healthy more than they care about what's for dinner!!!

  5. Oh, my dear, I am so sorry about the news, though I guess it can be a relief to understand the "why" of all the pain you are having.
It is a blessing that you don't have the Thanksgiving spread to prepare. Take care and try not to go stir crazy!

  6. Oh my, Freda. No wonder you were in so much pain! The PA you saw needs to go back for more classes.
Your menu sounds delicious. Don't overdo, dear. Get well soon.

  7. Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry to hear the news. You're right… even reading gets old after a while. If you want I can send you goofy emails all day long? No? Okay… well the offer stands. Be well my friend. Take care of yourself… *karendianne.

  8. Well, at least you now officially know what is going on! Do take care, Freda and enjoy being with family. Maybe that will help distract you from how uncomfortable you are at times.

  9. So sorry to hear about your ribs. I should think that if you can bake, you should be able to sew. There isn't that much bending to sewing. Either way, take it easy. You deserve a rest.
    Hugs

  11. What a fall that must have been, dear Freda. One broken rib is painful, but oh my goodness, 5 is amazing! I'm hoping for the healing to continue, there must be a reason for your time away from work right now. I sure hope your holiday is a good one, despite the circumstances ~

  13. I'm thankful the cause of pain was revealed...seems strange to rejoice about 5 fractured ribs, but like you said, at least you know why you're hurting! Not sure I would let the attending off too easy, either. I'm glad you'll get to be with family over the holiday, enjoy them!

  14. I am so sorry but it must be (somewhat?) comforting to know why you have been in so much pain. I hope you get back to being yourself soon. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family.

  16. Oh my gosh, Freda! When you fall, you FALL! I'm just catching up on some blog reading and am so sorry to hear about all you've been through. I hope now that you KNOW what it is, you will have a speedy recovery and soon be back to sewing, sewing, sewing!

  17. Not good news but at least you know the PA was wrong, the pain is related to the fall! Unfortunately the fight with WC is just beginning - I hope it goes smoothly and ends successfully! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and don't worry too much about the menu -- if they've had turkey dinner elsewhere they're not coming for the food!

  19. Freda, you're right, at least now you know, but the pain must be horrible. The worst part is No Laughing, that really hurts with broken ribs. I hope your holiday is calm and peaceful with just the occasional giggle.

  20. Oh, that can be so painful. I'm surprised you're able to do any cooking at all. The menu sounds great, though.

  22. Happy, healthy thoughts and prayers are coming your way. Glad you now know why it hurts and how to behave to make it go away. Behaving is the hardest part. Have a lovely Thanksgiving "RESTING" :-) while your family visits.
