While all my little girls were here for Thanksgiving, we got a little crafty and worked on two projects I had earmarked.
The first project... to make a small forest of Christmas trees... involved styrofoam cones, felt, sequins, beads, pins, tacky glue and glitter glue, scissors, and grandma's pinking shears. Little fingers do a much better job of handling those tiny decorations.
These are the almost-finished trees... the girls were eager to put on the glitter glue trim and it wasn't dry when I sewed on the stars.
The second project was one of the lighted glass blocks that look like presents. Chloe opted out of this project to play Farmville2 (on Facebook) but Emma was interested....
...and learned how to "pull a bow" as taught by grandma.
As soon as she finished, she plugged it in... and it looked great! Emma wasn't too proud of herself....
Hey, Grandma - that looks great! Can you teach me to "pull a bow" too , pretty pleeeeeeeeeez?
ReplyDeleteYou are such a good grandma! Those trees are very cute, and I love the lighted block. A friend gave me one several years ago and I stand it up on one of my kitchen window ledges. I love the festive touch it adds to my kitchen.
ReplyDeleteBoth projects look amazing. Well done to you and your wee girls. :o)
ReplyDeleteFreda,
ReplyDeleteI love the new Blog Header! So nice for Christmas! I somehow missed your last post about the table runner, and I've been wondering how you were doing. I'm glad that you seem better! Are you back to work yet? The trees are adorable! Hmmm, I may need to make some of those, too!
Grandma Freda you are the best !!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day......I would have loved to have joined in.
I could do stuff like that all day......oh , to be a kid again.

What a wonderful g'mama Emma and Chloe have! I loved doing things with my grandmother and have such fond memories. Those are pretty and look like fun! Thinking of you and hoping you're on the mend.
ReplyDeleteThere is definitely an "art" to tying a nice bow, the trees and the lighted glass block look very Christmassy.
ReplyDeleteYou are such a fun grandma! What great memories you are creating for these girls.
ReplyDeleteI pulled out some craft paints, rocks, crayons, coloring books and a puzzle. I'm always looking for new ideas and you came up with some great ideas, Freda!
ReplyDeleteThe creative genes are busy at work with your granddaughters; I like the lighted glass block.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great little projects you prepaired, love the trees but the lighted glass block is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThey did a great job.
Great projects. Oh, I know how it feels when the computer or some handheld game calls to the grandchildren.

I've just been catching up on your recent posts and reading about your fall. I hope by now you are on the mend and that you got things resolved with work. I broke a rib many years ago and it was unbelievably painful so I can't imagine 5...no wonder you couldn't breathe. I'll keep you in my thoughts that you get better soon. ((hugs))
