Grandmothers Choice: #3 Union Square

After last week's Y-seams, I was grateful for a more forthright block to work on...   Union Square!

In fact, participants in the Civil War BOW made this block last year.

Amazing how much different fabrics change a block....

My DIL sent me the following photo of one of my grandsons after a tough loss in soccer yesterday... a game where he scored the only goal made by his team...  recouping on the sofa...

...and this is why we make quilts, yes?

  3. Your block looks just gorgeous Freda, what a patern in the fabrics can do, it's amazing.
You can see that your grandson gets a lot of comfort out of that quilt.

  4. I love your Grandmother's Choice block and yes, it looks completely different from the same block in the other fabrics.

Poor kiD, at least he's enjoying a warm hug made with love!

  5. I love the picture of your grandson with the quilt! Yes, that's why we make them.

I know what you mean about the blocks. The Road Trip Quilt Along had some very challenging blocks and when there was an easier one, I was relieved. Only one more to do. There were 16, but I plan to do 2 more, including the NC one you sent me. So instead of 4 blocks by 4 for a square quilt, it will be 4 by 5.

Your block of the week is pretty!
