On the Trail of Tiny Houses

I was studying the tiny houses quilt, trying to figure out how the size of the blocks and how exactly they were made....  and so small too!

I did a little online sleuthing and found that "Brenda (Canada)" made this quilt, using the book:  Down in the Valley: Paper-Pieced Houses and Buildings by Myra Harder and Cori Lee Derksen (link).

The houses and trees are sooooo tiny but they are paper-pieced!  So... looks like I will be practicing my paper-piecing while working on this project.  I have ordered a copy of this book to help...   methinks I'll need all the help I can get on this one!

  4. Wow - it's impossible to look at this treasure without getting out of my chair and finding my same book and starting the quilt!! I will resist, but perhaps I could make just a few and include them in greeting cards. Thanks for inspiration.

  7. I adore this! So colorful and each house is unique. It reminds me of my dear Mama, she loved little houses, and kept her rather extensive Christmas village up year round. I don't think I could work this tiny...well, with fabric thiat is. I have a couple of books by KF with colorful house quilt designs... it's been on my to do list for too long, lol! Can't wait to see your mini-houses!

  9. Those look like tons of fun! I can't wait to see your progress. Sometimes I love blogs because people do such fun things that I enjoy seeing and yet don't quite feel like taking on at the moment.
