Shopping My Stash

This year, I am quite determined to work on some of the projects that have been in my stash for way too long....    I pulled the fabrics.... all but the two bottom fabrics were purchased at 2010 Knoxville Quilt Show.  The bottom two fabrics I found online...    all too pretty to be sitting in the stash for so long, don't you agree?

Next, I went looking for the pattern for this project.  I had filed it a plastic sheet "pocket" in a notebook with other quilty patterns and put the notebook safely away.   But where?  *lol*    I know that never happens to you all.

I was inspired by a quilt made from this pattern using vintage sheets created by Jeni Baker of In Color Order.

I'm going to study the various fabrics, pairing them by color and value, before I start working on this quilt.  Also, my daughter and granddaughters will be arriving this afternoon to spend a few days of our mutual Spring Breaks!  Stay tuned for more developments on the quilting front...

  4. Over the weekend I realised how much fabric I have accumulated in my short quilting life (about three years) plus how much fabric I have from the community quilting group so I, too, am trying to use what's here and not shop for more! I've begun well, I went to the discount store today and bought nothing -- no yarn, and no fabric! Not even a notion!

Have a wonderful time with your family.

  5. Those fabrics are really pretty and springy. Just what the doctor ordered, at least here--it snowed yesterday and is snowing again! In southern Virginia! In late March! Enjoy your visit!

  6. The colors of that fabric just sing Spring/Summer. I bet that your Granddaughters will lay claim to that quilt as soon as they see the fabric. Happy Quilting!

  8. Beautiful fabrics, Freda! You inspire me.
I have accumulated enough fabrics in the last few years to make several quilts, some coordinated and many scrappy. I've started using mostly scraps and stash, buying little. .

  11. 'Scuse me while I wipe the drool off the keyboard! Love your fabrics! So fun and cheerful! To me, this pattern design has a randomness, like a collage. Orderly chaos :-) Have fun with your girlies!
