Hurricane Party!

Blog friend Mary contacted me about whether I was safe from Hurricane Sandy this morning and so...  in case of any concerns...  this weather map should be helpful.

I'm in the green "buy a boat" area.

On a more serious note, I hope that all in the path of Sandy will be safe and damage minimal.

  1. I am just north of the "hit the liquor store" zone - but we stocked up on wine today, anyway (kidding - it was on the grocery list already) - my bigger concern is power outages, but I prepped for that - printed out a new knitting pattern that has been hanging out in my computer, and stocked up on library books for the 7 year old. Wish I had a quilt ready to bind -but none are that far along right now. That would keep me busy AND cozy!

  4. Love your map. The hubby and I got a chuckle out of it. We are also in the 'buy a boat' area. Rather breezy here right now.

  5. We are getting some rain now. Glad we aren't getting the snow the people up North will be getting!

  7. Keep safe, Freda. We usually get the tail ends of your hurricanes so hopefully Sandy will have lost all his/her power by the time he/she hits Scotland.

  8. I'm in central Maryland, in the totally screwed area. I'm assuming that work will be cancelled on Monday and, maybe, Tuesday. My electric company expects 700,000 to lose power. I'm pretty close to the substation and don't usually lose power. At least it's not hot like it was for the derecho last summer nor cold yet so it won't be so uncomfortable if the power does go out.

  9. Woo hoo! I'm in the liquor store section! But as a Red Cross Disaster Volunteer, I might be 'visiting' the totally screwed area... even tho I've volunteered to stay home, you never know with this kind of thing. Stay safe y'all!

  11. Greetings from the totally screwed zone! I sewed the binding on a quilt today, in case the electricity goes out... I'm hoping it's a non-event. Time will tell.

  12. We don't have hurricanes over here but I can imagine that it must be very frightened to live there.
    Hope that everyone stays safe.

  15. I love the map, here I thought I needed batteries and staples in case the power went off. Filled up the generator, have canned goods, water, etc., but didn't realize what I really needed was to go to the liquor store and they are closed today! What to do? Funny. Be Safe!
