A Change of Plans

This weekend, I was planning on working on my  sister Eleanor's red quilt...

...and sewing the sashing onto the Civil War blocks...

... and even making my newly re-geared machine a dust cover, like the one Crafty Vegas Mom recently made...

...but sometimes, plans change suddenly.

Ever heard of Myelodysplastic Syndrome?  Until yesterday, I hadn't...  but the 8 year old grandson of a good friend and coworker has been recently diagnosed with MDS, which is very rare in children.  In most instances, the only cure for children with MDS is a stem cell transplant.

Two of my grandchildren are Mary's grandson's age... and my heart breaks for her and her entire family...  what can I do to help other than pray?

So... weekend plans have changed and I have challenged myself to make Alexander a quilt so I can mail it to him on Monday!  I've selected the Quick Strippie quilt pattern.

I went by my local quilt shop after work yesterday and picked up these fabrics...

along with Moda Bella solid in Royal...

...and this morning, it's off to the quilting races!
