With a Pine Tree quilt block for a border cornerstone, next up was The North Carolina Beauty (page 183 of Judy Hopkins' 501 Rotary-cut Quilt Blocks). I did resist this choice at first because of all the flying geese.... the itty-bitty flying geese... this block finishes at six inches. But, I persevered!
The second cornerstone represents the beauty of my home state... from the mountains...
...to the sea!
You are a brave soul. So cool that you picked blocks that have meaning.
ReplyDeleteMy first experience with FG was with the Swoon and those were huge. I loved doing them, but can't imagine doing them that tiny! You rock! Love it. And very pretty pics of NC. :o)
ReplyDeleteI like it! This block would also make a cute mug rug I think.
ReplyDeleteI bow to you! You are brave and fearless in tackling these tiny ones and the bitty blocks are wonderful!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is what I call "putting heart" into your quilt....when you make it your own. Love it.
Ohhhhh my! What a great block and the fabrics are perfect. The block really pops!!!
ReplyDeleteSix inches, YIKES Freda, love the block but I can't imagine such tiny geese.
ReplyDeleteYou made wonderful itty-bitty flying geese!
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful photos of your home state.
Freda I love what you are working on. Your CW quilt is fantastic. Your little flying geese are so adorable. Hugs
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful block - and very well made... you have all the checks on the way! I am impressed. That would not happen at my house. I love the pictures of your mountains and sea, too. (We visited your state while seeing our son and his family serving in the USAF at S. Johnson AFB. We went to the ocean, and drove through N.C. from and to the airport. It was a wonderful trip. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
This is such a good and unique idea you have of making blocks that have meaning for you.
