Temps were supposed to drop to near freezing.... but I had already taken the blankets off the bed. So.... I spread my Jacob's Ladder quilt over the bed....
...and slept under a quilt for the first time in my life...
Ooooooh, you'll get totally used to it! The first time I slept under a quilt I made was just over a year or so ago. Can't imagine any other way now. Enjoy!!
How exciting. I remember when I was visiting my son and I slept under a quilt that I had made for them-------it felt so good. Would you believe that I don't have a quilt on our bed, must do something about that.
You've got to make a quilt for your bed!! I've two I change out during the year and have another one in the planning. It is a wonderful feeling. Have a great holiday weekend.
I'm glad you got to enjoy that feeling of quilty love! We are never without one on ours, summer or winter. Happy Easter blessings to you and your family! :-}pokey
Well, it's about time, woman!! : ) But isn't that how it goes? I had quilts from my Mom on my bed, but when someone asked to see something I had made one day, I realized I had given all those away! Glad you finally got to snuggle under a quilt!
It's the best way to get use from your quilts, I usually have at least one on the bed, when it gets colder I layer on another one, and I'm still working on the next layer so I have to use a blanket :)
No one who is even as young as five should never have had that experience! (How convoluted is that sentence?) I'm glad you slept under a quilt--and if it took that much unexpected cold to do it, it was worth it, wasn't it. There's an old belief that the first person (or first couple) to sleep under a new quilt will have good luck!
I am working on getting my first queen sized quilt finished so I can sleep under something a little bigger than the 50" square my husband drapes over me at 5:30am when he leaves for work!

Good for you. I have yet to make one big enough to sleep under, but I sure enjoy snuggling up with the smaller ones to read a good book.

ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful post! You have been giving all your quilts away! That won't do. You must have 2 or 3 for yourself!
