I Need New Glasses

...or something!

Walking by the design wall the other day I noticed a block that didn't look right... and then I found another.   I stopped looking after finding the fifth block with an oopsie...  if I removed too many blocks, I might forget the layout, which I like.

I was wondering why I'm finding so many oopsies in these blocks... but I'm thinking that the high contrast in fabrics for Cowabunga Florabunda made it easier to spot the errors...  both before and after sewing.

Oh well...   I guess I'll be spending some quality time with my trusty seam ripper...

  2. A seam ripper is a best friend. Never leave home without it.

  3. At least you don't need a new seam ripper. Last year broke three in a short span, now I stock up regularly. :)

  4. I think you are probably right about the level of contrast making the difference. Oh, and right in the center of the block, too. Not just a simple fix. Hope you've got a good movie or book on tape to keep you company. : )

  5. When you see one Oopsie, more will follow.
It happens me too, and when you think you found them all, oops there is another one.

  6. ...or you could squint.

Nah, you won't do that. You'll have 'em fixed in no time!

  7. In my experience, the Jacob's Ladder block is SO EASY to put the pieces in backwards! I did my share of it on mine. :o)

In no time you will have righted all the pieces and the quilt will be finished and beautiful.

  8. I read your blog and I've been (I'm sure we ALL have) thru the same thing....you know that sayin' "can't see the forest for the trees"? Same with quilts. We are used to being so close to them that distance is a needed thing. I usually lay mine out (before sewing together) on the main floor, go up the stairs and take a photo over the edge of stairs. REALLY helps to see the mistakes from up there, or the uglies. Any height will do; get up on a chair, or step ladder; and take your pic. It'll help, or at least, it does me!

  9. I'm like Shannyn, I will take a picture of the quilt layout for reference purposes and to see if there are any oopsies.

I started looking at your picture but I didn't think you needed me to find any more :)

  10. Ugh! Just sit down in front of a good movie and it won't feel painful taking the block apart. It is good you are seeing them now instead of when more is being assembled. It is going to be a lovely quilt.

  11. I keep losing my seam rippers - and I need them often. Good that you caught this.
