If you need a quilt quickly, I can recommend the Quick Strippie quilt pattern. At 6:30 a.m., I started with...
...and at 7:30, I had...
After breakfast, I pieced the back, got everything sandwiched and pin basted...
...and got to quilting right at noon.
I don't want you to think I did nothing yesterday except
quilt... there were breaks for laundry, general weekend chores, meals,
and playing Words with Friends!
This was the first time I machine sewed down the binding rather than hand-sewing... but I figure it would be sturdier.... even machine sewed the not-in-the-binding-seam edges of the label!
This fabric gave off a heavy chemical smell that got me to sniffling/sneezing... so once finished, I popped the finished quilt into the washer... I'm thinking of washing it twice just to be sure the smell is gone.
Just call me...
It turned out great! He's going to love it!
ReplyDeleteIf I had to come up with a small quilt quickly for something like this, I would choose this pattern. It's a good size.
You did so good :D
Okay, Speedy! Excellent job! I can think of all kinds of situations where this pattern is going to come in handy! I have printed it off. Thanks for the link. : )
ReplyDeleteHey Speedy! That quilt looks great!

ReplyDeleteWowie Zowie! The family will love it! And I'll put the pattern in my 'go west' file in case I need a quick one this summer!
ReplyDeleteWonderful quilt and what a great reason to get it done quickly. Hope he loves it!
ReplyDeleteSpeedy is right, I will have to remember this pattern. I like the end results, now sit back and enjoy an extra cup of coffee and admire your quilt.
ReplyDeleteI am impressed Speedy!! I'm not sure I could sew that fast if I tried!! Washing it is a good idea, especially since the young fellow may be going through treatments which don't need exposure to extra chemicals!!
ReplyDeleteThis turned out great. I really like the way you quilted it. It will be well loved. I am not sure I could make a quilt in a day, even without breaks.
ReplyDeleteQuilt. Wouldn't that be a great play in Words With Friends. Perhaps a project like yours would distract me from my distractions, WWF and TV. I will always justify my TV time as long as I can tie it back to wordplay. Blame my love of Scrabble, WWF and TV trivia for me creating my blog and the anagrams I invent. Still, all these distractions keep me away from concentrating on quilting.

Ain't no flies on you, Speedy! The quilt is wonderful, and will be a great comfort to a child. Btw, I LOVE WWF!
ReplyDeleteHey Speedy, I think of you more as MM - No, not Marilyn Monroe, Mighty Mouse! I would not even attempt a quilt in a day. You are amazing! and it is a niiice quilt, too.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
you definitely are a Speedy Gonzalez!! Very nice choice of fabrics for this quilt who is getting it ?
ReplyDeleteLook at you go! Getting back into the grind. We will all be running to catch up with you. I like your quickie quilt. It looks great in your fabric choices.
ReplyDeleteSi, Senor! I'm so impressed, Speedy. Our daughter's friend was diagnosed with leukemia over a year ago, and we had some second-hand experience into having a child with a serious illness. I'll be sending happy thoughts and a prayer with your wonderful quilt.
ReplyDelete¡Arriba, arriba!
ReplyDeleteWel I posted a comment but it disappeared. Very cute choice of fabrics and I know he'll love it.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing quilts that others make from my instructions so thanks for sharing it with me!
I agree: this is really a very speedy quilt. I have made myself 5 (yes 5) kits of this pattern (thanks Mary) so I can sew these at retreat next month.
