I'm not sure what it is but, after working diligently on a quilt-y project... my mind kinda wanders. I was all set to finish up the Kaffe Fassett HST (half-square triangle) quilt yesterday when I spied the four pink flower blocks leftover from the double 4-patch quilt top. Then.... an idea!
My bedside table has a white doily thing that gets scrunched up with all the stuff I keep on it...
...so I made a giant mug rug!
I was puzzled how to quilt it and decided on just doing outline quilting and a couple of decorative stitches...
Someone commented about liking to see the back of quilts... so here's the back of the giant mug rug..
And here's how the bedside table looks! Now I just need to stop piling stuff up on it...
We have to much stuff and we need to put it somewhere, but why not on the bedside table. Some things we need to have by hand!!

Love this idea, although you've put me to shame, my bedside table is piled high with books and other stuff that really shouldn't be on there ... Another project to put on my ever growing 'to do' list! X
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful mug rug (I'm a huge fan of all things pink)! I love the way the outline quilting looks on the back.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!
ReplyDeleteYour bedside table is now gorgeous. I like what you did.
ReplyDeleteLove it. I have little quilts like this on all my tables and dressers. Aren't they great. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute! I love how you solved the "pile" problem. As a fellow "pile-er", I salute you!
ReplyDeleteIt's prefect....what a great idea!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!!!! Love love love!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely fantastic!!! I've been thinking about a rug for my feet when I sit at the dining room table (there's no carpet underneath with a nine year old boy at home!) What do you think? Would it work?? Thanks for showing off the back - VERY nice!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! And I don't think your stuff takes away from the table topper. It still looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLove It!!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day,
Leanne
It is PERFECT!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a perfect idea!! I LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Wish I had thought of it. I am going to make one for my night stand. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteA great idea and a quick finish, very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI like to see the backs of quilts too and also how they are quilted, so thank you.
That's put my bedside table to shame, piled high with books and lots of stuff that should be put away.
Ok.. we are on the same wave length. I was thinking yesterday that I have quilters ADHD also. Sometimes I bounce from one thing to the next.
ReplyDeleteI love the giant mug rug! It's the perfect idea for the bedside table.
Your HST quilt is so pretty! Makes me want to add one to my future projects list. I have some kaffe squares in my stash that would work perfect for this too.
What a pretty mug rug! Love the colors! How pretty!

I like your mug rug. Such a good idea. My bedside table is an old serving cart. I'm constantly fighting with the topper on it. It seems you're not alone in the quilter's adhd. I've hopped around from project to project so much lately that I bet I could beat the Easter Bunny in a contest!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea of a big mug rug, and what a nice job of it! Incidentally, I have the exact cut glass ovally-shaped container full of pens/pencil/highlighter/nail file, etc. What a coinky-dink.
